2000 LAST MINUTE TRAVEL.COM CHAMPIONS, CENTRAL PARK, NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK


Served as Tournament Director and Promoter for this International ATP Champions Tour tournament (“Success Magazine Champions Tour”), which was the first professional tennis tournament played in Central Park.  A stadium tennis court was constructed in the existing Central Park Ice Rink and promotional and sponsor entertainment events were conducted at the nearby “Tavern on the Green”.  Mikael Pernfors defeated Jimmy Connors, John McEnroe and Yannick Noah on his way to the final in which he defeated Henri LeConte for the title.


2000 BTI CHAMPIONS OF RALEIGH, RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA

Served as Tournament Director of this International ATP Champions Tour tournament (“Success Magazine Champions Tour”).  John McEnroe defeated Mats Wilander.


2000 BTI CHAMPIONS OF ATLANTA, ATLANTA, GEORGIA

Served as Tournament Director of this International ATP Champions Tour tournament (“Success Magazine Champions Tour”).  John McEnroe defeated Henry LeConte.


1999 CITIBANK CHAMPIONS, MANHATTANVILLE COLLEGE, HARRISON, NEW YORK

Served as Tournament Director and Promoter for this International ATP Champions Tour tournament.  Mikael Pernfors defeated Mel Purcell in the final.


1999 FED CUP TIE, UNITED STATES VS. CROATIA

Served as Tournament Director of this International Federation Team Event,which was originally scheduled to be staged in Croatia.  Because of the Kosovo War, the event was moved at the last minute to Raleigh.  All tickets were marketed and sold in 4 days.  The national and international exposure for the Tie, which was telecast on ESPN confirmed Raleigh as an international tennis city,with world class facilities, capabilities and people.  Because of the success of the Federation Cup Tie and its positive economic impact on the Raleigh area, the Greater Raleigh Convention & Visitor’s Bureau awarded Karen Scott Happer its highest and most prestigious award in 1999, the “Thad Eure, Jr.”, Award as Entrepreneur of the Year.  This Tie immediately preceded the 1999 BTI Champions of Raleigh.

Served as Tournament Director and Promoter for this inaugural event on the international Women’s Professional Circuit. Pam Shriver defeated Dianne Balestrat in the final.  This was Evonne Goolagong Cawley’s final professional tournament.

Managed an exhibition tour featuring Martina Navratilova, Pam Shriver, Tracy Austin and Kathy Jordon in Indonesia, Hong Kong and Korea following the 1985 Australian Open.

Served as Tournament Director for this international men’s Volvo Grand Prix tournament.  Kim Warwick defeated Bernie Mitton in the final.


1979 MARLBORO AUSTRALIAN OPEN TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS, MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA (One of the four Grand Slams of Tennis)

Served as Tournament Organizer for this Grand Slam of Tennis tournament.  Karen Scott Happer is still the only woman to ever serve in that capacity for one of the Grand Slams of Tennis.  Guillermo Vilas defeated John Sadri in the final.  The Tournament was concluded on January 2, 1980, but was part of the 1979 international Volvo Grand Prix of Tennis.


1978 THEISS TOYOTO INTERNATIONAL CHALLENGE, ADELAIDE, SOUTH AUSTRALIA

Served as Tournament Director for this Special Tennis event in Australia. This event was a United States vs. Australia event staring Vitas Gerulaitis and Roscoe Tanner vs. John Newcombe and Tony Roche.


1978 MARLBORO SOUTH AUSTRALIAN OPEN, ADELAIDE, SOUTH AUSTRALIA

Served as Tournament Director for this international Volvo Grand Prix tournament. Victor Amaya defeated Brian Teacher in the final.


1978 MARLBORO AUSTRALIAN OPEN TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS, MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA (One of the four Grand Slams of Tennis)

Served as the Tournament Manager for this Grand Slam of Tennis tournament.  Guillermo Vilas defeated John Marks in the final.  The 1978 Tournament was actually completed on January 3, 1979, but was part of the 1978 international Volvo Grand Prix of Tennis.

Served as Organizer and Promoter of the first Australian Superstar’s event in conjunction with Channel Nine Network of Australia and the International Management Group.
